Beware of the Dog is a 1944 World War II story by Roald Dahl which was originally published in Harper's Magazine and later appeared in his Over to You collection. It was made into the movie 36 Hours in 1964.

This is one of Dahl's "flying" stories and deals with three R.A.F. pilots on leave in Cairo, Egypt. It does have a slightly adult theme (Madame Rosette runs a seedy brothel) and younger readers might want to skip this one for now.
The story is about Mrs. Bixby receiving a glamorous mink coat from a man with whom she had an affair (the Colonel). She hopes to sneak the coat into her house without her husband noticing, but she soon realizes that her husband has plans of his own.
