"Aymara Language Is Like This" - Level One - 2-nd edition
Edited by Joana Canedo - Web version designed by Aaron Rester
Spanish/English translations by Paul Liffman
This textbook, in which I offer an introduction to the Aymara language, is based on the simple, practical method that has evolved through my teaching experience.
In this edition, I have limited myself to presenting the basic elements of the Aymara language. In order to facilitate the learning, I propose a substantial number of practical exercises accompanied with linguistic explanations. I have tried to do this in an easy, yet stimulating manner, which will be useful to both the linguist and the non-linguist learning Aymara. Above all, it is my goal to interest people in this ancient language which still strongly remains part of the Andean culture together with the condor and the pututu (the native horn).
This textbook represents the Aymara spoken in the provinces of the Department of La Paz, Bolivia, and a region of Puno, in Peru. It abides by and follows the new official Alphabet for the Aymara and Quechua Language.
