Hagan David Joan. Civil War Re-enactment
Schiffer Publishing, 1996. ― 116 р.― ISBN 0887409490.
Re-enacting Civil War battles in authentic costumes has become a growing hobby among the general population today. Popular with novice and historian alike, the human drama of the Civil War is brought alive through study, folk skills and stories, and reliving the events of a hundred and thirty years ago.
Photographers David and Joan Hagan portray this drama through their poignant pictures taken during re-enacted battles.
With a little imagination you become part of the action, hear the gunfire and shouting, and smell the smoke through their brilliant close-up photography. Authentic clothing, implements, food and environment are strictly reproduced. These pictures transport you to another time and place where daily life was disrupted and each person struggled with life-threatening conditions.
Dave and Joan Hagan have been actively engaged in photography since 1981. They have studied with many top professionals in the US and Canada. In 1986 they attended the Winona Professional School of Photography in Chicago.
The Hagans display waterfowl related photographs and portraits of famous decoy makers from the Chesapeake Bay at various waterfowl festivals. Since 1983 their work has been displayed at the Easton Waterfowl Festival and The Havre De Grace Decoy Festival along with some of the nation’s leading wildlife photographers. Their portraits of decoy makers are on display at the “Upper Bay Decoy Museum” in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Dave and Joan have currently published two books with Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. Their first book, The Farm, an American Living Portrait features 160 pages of beautiful color scenes of barns, windmills, spring houses and animals from Maine to North Carolina. Their second book, Upper Chesapeake Bay Decoys and Their Makers features 420 color photographs of over 80 decoy makers and their decoys.
Photographs by Dave and Joan have been published in Ducks Unlimited, Wildfowl and Gun Dog magazines.
