The healthcare and informatics industries are independently broad. Both industries are important to professionals from disciplines such as medicine, nursing, health information management/technology as well as healthcare economics, finance, and law. Mark's understanding of these industries allowed him to consolidate relevant information and articulate intelligibly to a broad audience. Contemporary Health Informatics is an exemplary textbook that keeps me alert. It encompasses the big data challenges and the big picture. Furthermore, it is complementary to both industries and enjoyable to read. As a healthcare provider, this book gives me the opportunity to strengthen my knowledge-based capacity in the health informatics industry.
