Green Seal, Inc. Washington, DC USA. Edition 2.1, July 12, 2013. 19 p. Green Seal is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use science-based programs to empower consumers, purchasers, and companies to create a more sustainable world. Green Seal sets leadership standards that aim to reduce, to the extent technologically and economically feasible, the environmental, health, and social impacts throughout the life-cycle of products, services, and companies. The standards may be used for conformity assessment and public education.
This Standard establishes requirements for cleaning service providers, including in-house and external cleaning services, to create a green cleaning program that protects human health and the environment. For the purposes of this Standard, green cleaning encompasses all indoor activities typically required to clean commercial, public, and industrial buildings. Maintenance of exterior areas such as parking lots, grounds, or picnic areas is excluded from the Standard, with the exception of areas directly outside building entryways.
