This study contains translations and editions of the tantras of the Indian Buddhist Tantric deity
Vajrabhairava, who bound by oath the pre-Buddhist god of the underworld
Yama to the protection of the Buddhist doctrine. These texts have played a significant role in the history of Buddhist tantric practice, in particular amongst the Dge lugs pa of Tibet and Mongolia for whom this is one of the three most important
anuttara-yoga-tantra cycles.
